I froze at the sight of him. There was no escape; the only path away from him led back to the lava pools and the portal. "You've been asking around about me," He said quietly. I swallowed hard, not sure what to say. I settled for nodding once, ignoring the knot that was continuing to twist up inside my gut. Was the Non-human mad? What would he do to me? Judging from the power he had displayed when we first met, there were plenty of things that he could do to me. None of them pleasant.

I could do nothing but silently plead that he would think nothing of my actions. After a long period of uncomfortable stillness from him, I opened my mouth to say something. But, what was there to say? Should I apologize? I realized how ridiculous that sounded, even in my head. 'I'm sorry for being nosy, please don't kill me.'
I closed my mouth again, awaiting his response.

Eventually, he smiled. "That's why I like you. Instead of going into hiding and waiting, you actually got up and did something. What's your name?"
I blinked at him in confusion. "Uh...I don't have a name." I never really had a name. My friends didn't either. We just went by what we were. I supposed I should tell him to just call me Enderman, but that sounded a bit silly.
"I have to call you something." He said flatly. "Names are a human-like trait, but they're useful. You have to have more of an identity than 'Enderman' if you're going to be working with me."

I said nothing, considering his words. I knew what a name was, obviously, but I had never thought to give myself one. I didn't know very many names, at that. I was taking too long; I could see the impatience on the Non-human's face. "Whatever. I say your new name is End."
End. I blinked at the Non-human more, then blurted out, "What's your name?"
"Humans refer to me as Herobrine." He said shortly. "Nice to meet you."

I had the vague feeling he was mocking me with this name bit, but I ignored it. I pushed away my confusion and stood my ground. No more games. "What do you want with me, Herobrine?" I asked quietly, being sure to keep my voice even.
"Come with me," He replied simply, turning and moving away. He was leading me down into a part of the caves I had never seen before. Which really wasn't all that odd; I was far from adventurous, I preferred to stay where I had been before.
I hurried to keep up. "Where?"
I got no response.

"My turn to ask a question. What all did you find out?" Herobrine asked after a short while of walking.
"Nothing," I said bitterly. And it was the truth.
Herobrine laughed again. "Good. I was afraid you had actually found something, End. Because if you had, that would mean trouble for you." He fell silent once more, leading us through the quiet caves. I was sure to pay attetion to where we were turning and when; it would be all too easy to get lost down here, in these caves that I was unfamiliar with.

I thought on this as we walked in silence after that. What did he have to hide? What did he not want me to find out? Perhaps he was a human after all, maybe he was using something to mess with his scent. But those eyes...those empty, cold eyes. I threw away the idea at once. There was no way Herobrine was human. Perhaps he had been at one point, which explained the smell, but it was not so now.

Herobrine stopped, as did I. We had reached a cavern; about as long as a small ravine, but much wider than any ravine I had ever seen. The smell of real human washed over me just as I spotted the lights on the other side of the cavern. Humans. Three of them, huddled around a few torches, talking amongst each other. They didn't seem to care much, whether they were heard or not. Which didn't matter much to me, I was unable to understand any of it.

Herobrine was smiling away, content to watch them from a distance. A little unnerved, I asked softly, "What are they doing?"
"Looking for me," Herobrine seemed delighted at this.
I was confused. "Why?"
"Because they fear me. Humans fear the unknown. I am no more than a myth to them."
"They fear the unknown, so they hunt it?" I said, awfully befuddled by this. Humans were strange. I thought back to my own actions; humans were unknown to me once, but I didn't go after them. They invaded my home, instead. I looked at the three humans again, wondering what to do.

Apparently, through the gloom, one of them spotted me. He motioned and spoke to the others, not taking his eyes off of me. I watched in silence, wondering what to do. Was this a staring contest of some kind? "Oh, perfect," Herobrine chuckled. "You can be my distraction," He said, then vanished into thin air. The humans started moving towards me, drawing their pointed tools out and marching towards me. Their intents couldn't be clearer.

Herobrine all but forgotten, I took to the shadows and appeared in front of them. I attacked the human in the middle, the one who had been staring at me. Though I was empty-handed, I could still attack quite viciously. I let wrath fuel my attack, the human thrown backwards by the single strike. I was angry at what they had done, but I was also angry at what I hadn't done.

No more would I sit idly by while these humans destroyed this world.
Notch's world.
My world.

I CAN'T STOP WRITING THESE.

I need to stop it with the cliffhanger endings, too. @~@
Anyone have any good suggestions for Herobrine's origins? -has absolutely no idea-

maybe... I think that herobrine was just a normal human, until he went to the end. the enderdragon (ME) saw promise in him, and took his soul and memories. then... you make up the rest.
